2010 KBIS - BLUM aged explorer

Chicago, IL.  Blum, Inc. a leading manufacturer of functional hardware for kitchen cabinetry, selected Joseph Giorgi, Jr., CKD, President of Giorgi Kitchens & Designs, to serve as "The Age Explorer" during a conference hosted by the company at the Annual Kitchen/Bath Industry Show.  The Kitchen/Bath Industry Show is the largest national conference for kitchen and bath designers.
For the first time Blum, Inc. shared their research on the actual physical limitations created by cognitive, sensory, audio and/or visual challenges.  Joseph donned a special suit created in Germany, called "The Age Explorer", which simulates  movement limitations experienced by people of advancing age.  This tool has enabled Blum to develop and test their products for quality related to ergonomic ease of motion and use.
Attending the conference were 40+ designers from across the country, invited because of their recognized prominence in the kitchen and bath industry community.  During the demonstration, Joseph - in his "Age Explorer" suit - followed instructions given by Carl Ruedisser, President of Blum.

In 2008 Giorgi Kitchens designed a new demonstration cooking area, with granite from the McGrory Company, for the Kennett Square Mushroom Festival.
At the 2009 Mushroom Festival Peter Gray presents Joseph and Pete Giorgi with an appreciation plaque.
